Quick Translation Tips
Translation is a very complicated process as against the assumption that translation requires only changing words from the source text to the destination text. There are many phrases in source text that if translated literally will not make sense in the targeted text. The complicated technicalities of translation include consideration of the genre and the style of the original text. Good translation depends on the competence level of the translator who can meet the timelines of the project.
Regular translators use their own reliable methods and techniques to translate. Their experience spanning a long period equips them with the required expertise. For the beginners, many useful tips are available online and offline. These translation tips can be used for oral as well as written translation.
Interpretation is considered to be the most difficult types of oral translation. To be successful in this domain of translation, one needs to possess a high level of competence in different areas. He/she must be able to understand and critically analyze the translated information and know the best way to highlight the key elements in the translated text. No matter how proficient a translator is, he/she should constantly work on enriching the professional vocabulary. Some other key qualities of a successful interpreter include quick reaction, clear articulation, and bright mind.
A good interpreter must familiarize himself with the topic of speech beforehand, note down important points, translate and clarify the meanings of any important terms to pronounce them clearly and distinctly, make friends with the speaker, and produce a brief summary at the end. He/she must be able to work under pressure and transmit a clear message to the audience.
In case of written translation, there is no need to react quickly. Rather, a translator can take time to think and choose a better variant, or consult a dictionary or a specialist to clarify doubts. While translating, the translator must translate the meaning and not the literal words, rely on wits and savvy, and take help of specialist or native speaker for proofreading. A professional translator must never accept an assignment if it is out of abilities, take care of all language nuances and stylistic features. Skills and translation expertise take their time but they come handy once acquired. When organizing the documents, a translator must keep in the mind the country that he is working for as the pattern may be different. He/she must emulate the original style of the author to make it effective.

That is exact. Last time when I had a Spanish to Serbian translation, I used a dozen different dictionnaries: Spanish-Serbian, Serbian-Spanish, Hungarian-Spanish, Spanish-French, Hungarian-Serbian, English-Hungarian, picdics and specialized dictionaries+Internet dictionaries. My motto is “precision and velocity”. One means nothing without the other: if you do a perfect translation but beyond the deadline – its not good for the client, if you do it fast without precision the clients won’t come again to ask for your services.
However good your knowledge of a language, if it is not your own you need to get a native speaker to check it over for concordances, punctuation, collocations and unwitting calques.
I strongly agree with this article and with the comment posted by Attila.
We must have in mind that we not only translate words but above all we translate cultures and different points of view.
Context is everything.

Mr Ronald as you said Translation has to be done very carefully and only by professionals. Translation has to be done based on the meaning not based on the words. If the translation is more than the person ability then they should better quit the translation.
