Geminine Translator – The Twins

Gemini

Gemini

The sign of the Twins, Gemini is dual-natured; adaptable but elusive, communicative yet superficial, eloquent but inconsistent; this is a complex and contradictory sign.

Geminians can be successful in a variety of fields, although their characteristics tend to make them unreliable. Being skilled manipulators of language, in both speech and writing, they are ideal as translators. Any profession combining their natural quick-wittedness with a change of surroundings suits them; making them perfect for short term interpretation projects.

While translators born under this sign are blessed with the virtue of versatility – allowing them to adapt to new projects and circumstances, they are also the victims of flightiness. They show great enthusiasm when taking up a new task, but lack the focus to remain dedicated to a single project. They have a keen & intuitive intelligence, but can only keep up short burst of intense concentration. This makes Geminine translators perfect for smaller, short-term translation projects, where they work on just two or three documents dealing with the same subject and then move on to another theme. On longer translation projects, they are likely to get restless & bored, requiring constant supervision and encouragement from the project manager.

Gemini people hate routine, and are therefore better suited to working as freelance translators and interpreters which gives them the freedom to explore multiple avenues and keep away the ennui. Since they lack the quality of conscientiousness, they do not naturally make good supervisors or managers. They also require constant follow up to ensure that they stick to deadlines and maintain the quality standards demanded of the translated work.

If faced with difficulties or adversity, they have little determination to work at a problem until they find a solution. They are more likely to throw up their hands and move on to something else. They therefore run the risk of losing themselves in too many projects, which they don’t have the strength of will to see to completion. Geminine translators also have a tendency to be inconsistent in their output, making it a challenge for the agencies they work with.

As colleagues they can be difficult to work with, because of their extreme nature. They can seem affectionate, courteous, kind and thoughtful but are also prone to demand attention & admiration, wanting people to spend time & energy, throwing tantrums or sulking if they don’t get what they want. They are energetic though, and can help keep up enthusiasm within a group for a short period.

Being myself a Gemini and a freelance English to Mexican Spanish translator, as well as a business owner I would feel insulted if it wasn’t because I don’t believe in this stuff.
