    A website has to be in different languages – but not always. The exception are those, which are focused to the learning of a unique language, by speakers or would-be speakers of the language. Such an idea was mine also when making my own homepage, for professional French. The educators and the learners can use either my order of the lessons, or use the manuals conformly to the official plan and program of their own country. Some of my collegues had criticised a few points of that web site:
    1/The website generates no money income.
    2/There are no solutions mentionned for the exercises.
    3/Why do I not send the material to print and ask the permission of the local Ministry of Education for that.
    4/There is no translation of the manuals.
    5/Why is it not centered to a special level ?
    AD 1/ Indeed a 100 dollars (even monthly) for the US and Canada users would not be a big amount to pay. On the other side 1 US dollar yearly is a lot of money for the poorest African and Asian countries. As knowledge by my opinion is free for everybody – I had no heart to make such a decision. By now the two first books of four planed have a value beyond 120 millions euros (180 million US$) and when in a few years the other two would be finished, their value would beyond tenfold : 1.2 billion euros (cca 2 billion US$). That means also a daily visitor number up to 20.000 people (1 Gb) all the World around. And the yearly cost for that website ? 12 euros (18 US$) only.

    AD2/ The aim of the manuals is that the learner should learn how to use French grammar and not the one to cheat himself by reading the solutions.

    AD3/ There is no use to print the manual: the multimedia side which it does incorporate would disappear with the possibility of regular data updating. By the way the local Ministry of Education does not have any possibilities to help teachers like me, when speaking of an educational web site. They are only focused on the standard and archaic Paris-centered paper manuals. The so called “Paris-centered” manuals (both French and local ones) are starting like that :”Father John at the Concorde place and sister Mary in the Louvre”. Today when the World is centered on francophony – such despotism generates only lies for the children.
    When speaking of despotism – there is also an other one: if you are making a paper manual you have to give it to the local Ministry of Education in 6 exemplars and in a period of 2 years, after many peripeties, you would receive the OK signal from them. The real aspect of that is: if somebody has a grade more then the one you own (and there are a lot of people like that) they will take your work and print it under their name, sometimes unchanged sometimes slightly changed. A few years ago, after finishing a 75 page Latin manual for medical schools and for Hungarian learners, I told only the title to a collegue. Well, 2 weeks later, they printed a Latin manual in two tomes. So giving my lifeswork to “rats” of that kind is out of question.

    AD4/There are no translations of the manual – because I would not be able to do that even though I am using beyond 40 foreign languages. I have no time for that and on the other side the spirit of the language would be erased.

    AD5/ The manuals are not for this or that level of French knowledge (DELF A1-A2, B1-B2, DALF C1-C2). One can used them even with “zero knowledge”. That’s a fact that the themes or modules are speaking about different sciences whith the lexique proper to these sciences (electrotechnics, optics, astronautics, satellite antennas, nanotechnology and so on). One would think that these manuals are for advanced students or very advanced ones. But we all are living in an advanced or even super advanced world – so this general lifestyle generates new knowledges, which are otherways not too much understandable for the “simple” crowds.
    In fact the purpose of the manuals is to generate knowledge and know-how in the mentionned scientific areas. The teachers would define which learner has to do which part and on which language level, so that is not the obligation of the autor. That means also that the better knowers will be also working as those who know the language in a lesser level, in the same class.
    And when the four manuals would be finished there will be an audio record of every lesson and a Braille-version also to help those who are having sight and hearing problems.
    The website is not only the location for these specialised manuals: it serves also those who want only search this or that Library or Electronic Library in the World, or have to translate something from one language to another or would like simply lissen to music or learn new recipes. That sort of entity we call general culture and such a garden everybody should have at home.
